If you previously took the ASVAB then you will not have to retake the test. Instead, you will go on to your medical examination. At the end of the day, your ASVAB results, medical examination and job availability at the time of enlistment will be reviewed with a service liaison (counselor). The service liaison will help you select your military job.

The administration will scan your fingerprints and MEPS personnel will make sure you are clear on the conditions of your enlistment. You will be asked about marital status, history of alcohol or drug abuse, and physical or mental ailment history. It is important to answer these questions truthfully. Not disclosing certain information could result in unintentional harm during Basic Training. These step helps ensure you know what you are signing up to do. However, if you have any questions or hesitations at this point in time it is okay to delay your decision for a later date.

What if you have to travel to a MEPS location?

The cost of a motel is covered by the government if you are required to drive a long distance to reach the MEPS. Some recruiters will offer to drive you to the location if you do not have access to a car or public transportation. It is important to follow rules during your stay as any misconduct will be reported. You wake up early at around 4:00 am. Make sure to eat a large breakfast as you have a long day ahead of you. The MEPS will provide you lunch at no cost and dinner if you stay overnight at the motel.

What to expect upon entering MEPS?

Similar to the airport, you will go through a metal detector and bags will be checked for contraband. If anything is found, your entrance into MEPS may be denied. It is your life. After going through the full day, do not feel pressure to enlist if you do not want to join. Four years can go by quickly (doing something you enjoy) or very slowly (dreading your job every day). If you want to retake the ASVAB to try for a score with more desirable job opportunities then come back to MEPS to test again after studying. If you decide to enlist while at MEPS then you will take your oath of enlistment before you leave. The oath is, “I, [insert name], do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

What to wear to MEPS?

Wear comfortable clothes as you will likely do a physical examination during your visit to MEPS. The following items are prohibited: hats, headbands, sleeveless shirts, open-toed shoes, tank tops, midriff/halter tops and clothing with obscene language. Underwear is mandatory. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bring them with you. At the end of the day, decide if you are ready to take your oath of enlistment. You do not have to take the oath if you are unhappy with the job opportunities presented to you. Your physical exam is good for one year. Your ASVAB score is good for two years. However, MEPS is the last step in the process of recruitment; you will have a very unhappy recruiter to face when you go home if you choose to delay.

[49,138

https://i0.wp.com/asvabbootcamp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MEPS-Day-ASVAB.png?fit=1026%2C579&ssl=1
ASVAB test day?
